Bhubaneswar- Odisha has taken a major leap in its clean energy journey by approving new renewable energy projects worth nearly Rs 870 crore. The fresh approvals include solar and wind power installations with a total capacity of 178 MW, reinforcing the state’s commitment to green development.
These approvals were granted during the 12th meeting of the Single Window Committee, chaired by Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department. The committee reviewed and cleared proposals submitted by the Renewable Energy Nodal Agency (RENA), with top officials from GRIDCO, OHPC, and other key energy bodies in attendance.
Among the major projects, Prozeal Green Energy Limited will set up a 69.5 MW solar park in Biramaharajpur, Subarnapur district, while INOX Solar Limited received the go-ahead for a 49.5 MW solar facility in Telkoi, Keonjhar. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) will install a 10 MW solar plant in Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda. NLC India Renewables Limited has also been cleared to establish a wind power project in Papadahandi, Nabarangpur district.
These ventures collectively include 128.5 MW of solar power and 49.5 MW of wind power, marking a strategic blend of renewable sources. With this, Odisha’s total approved renewable energy capacity now stands at 1,844.86 MW, drawing cumulative investment promises worth Rs 12,599.79 crore.
The move signals Odisha’s increasing attractiveness for clean energy investors and highlights the government’s proactive approach in creating a business-friendly environment for sustainable development.
