Bhubaneswar/ Konark: The much-anticipated Konark Dance Festival 2024 commenced today, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi inaugurating the five-day celebration of India’s classical dance heritage.
Set against the iconic Sun Temple in Konark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the festival will run from December 1st to 5th, presenting an exquisite showcase of classical dance forms such as Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Manipuri, Kathakali, and others.
Simultaneously, the International Sand Art Festival adds a unique dimension to the cultural spectacle, featuring mesmerizing sand sculptures by renowned artists from India and abroad.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister Mr Majhi highlighted the event’s cultural significance: “The Konark Dance Festival is a vibrant tribute to our timeless traditions and an opportunity to share our artistic heritage with the world.”
The festival has drawn performers, art connoisseurs, and tourists from around the globe, reinforcing Odisha’s status as a premier cultural destination and providing a significant boost to the state’s tourism industry.
