Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident at SCB Medical College and Hospital which claimed at least ten lives on Monday. The Prime Minister said the incident was extremely distressing and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. He also wished a speedy recovery for those who were injured in the mishap.
Announcing financial assistance, Modi said that the next of kin of each deceased victim will receive an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, while those injured will be given Rs 50,000 as relief.
Meanwhile, Droupadi Murmu also expressed grief over the tragic incident. She said she was deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the fire at the hospital in Cuttack and extended her condolences to the bereaved families. The President also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
