Bhubaneswar: In a heartwarming act of honesty, a sanitation worker in Bhubaneswar returned a gold bracelet she discovered in a dustbin to its rightful owner.
The incident unfolded when Deepika Mohanty, a resident of the New Forest Park area, accidentally discarded an 18-gram gold bracelet along with her household waste. The garbage was collected by a municipal truck and transported to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) waste processing facility.
While segregating waste at the facility, sanitation worker Saraswati Nayak found the gold bracelet. Instead of keeping the valuable item, Saraswati promptly reported her find to the facility supervisor. After verifying the ownership, the bracelet was returned to Deepika.
Deepika expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Saraswati and the entire sanitation team for their honesty and dedication. She praised their actions as an inspiring example of integrity.
This isn’t an isolated case, as BMC sanitation workers frequently encounter valuable items such as jewelry during their duties. Their consistent efforts to return lost belongings highlight the integrity and moral standards upheld by these unsung heroes of city maintenance.
This act of honesty serves as a reminder of the invaluable contributions of sanitation workers to society, extending beyond their primary responsibilities to acts of kindness and ethical conduct.
