SAMBALPUR: In the sacred land of Maa Samaleswari, Sambalpur, the inaugural ceremony of the “Sambalpur Lok Mahotsav” organized by the District Culture Council was held. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the chief guest. The Sambalpur Lok Mahotsav, a grand celebration of folk art, literature, and culture, has been organized with the cooperation of the people. It stands as a magnificent example of folk culture and reflects the essence of Sambalpur’s cultural identity. The Minister appreciated the initiative as a commendable step towards showcasing Sambalpur’s rich heritage.

Sambalpur’s social fabric is deeply rooted in folk art, music, and traditions. Among India’s cultural heritage, the famous Rangabati song has no parallel. Rangabati symbolizes Sambalpuri folk culture. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, contributors to this iconic folk song – lyricist Mitrabhanu Gauntia, singer Jitendra Haripal, and singer Krishna Patel – have been honored with the Padma awards, marking a great recognition for Sambalpuri language, literature, art, and culture.

Additionally, a resolution was made to make Sambalpur district “tuberculosis-free by December 2025”.The initiative requires collaboration between the health department, district administration, social organizations, NGOs, and individuals. The call for a modern and developed Sambalpur in the 21st century was emphasized, urging collective efforts from all stakeholders.
