Bhubaneswar: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will visit Odisha on July 11, focusing on the pressing concerns of farmers, displaced tribal communities, women, and the youth. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhakta Charan Das announced the visit during a press conference on Wednesday, describing it as a major push to energize the party’s base and re-establish strong public engagement across the state.
Rahul Gandhi will address a public rally titled ‘Sambidhan Bachao Samavesh’ at Baramunda Ground in Bhubaneswar on Friday morning. The rally will also see the presence of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal.
Describing the visit as a turning point for the state unit of Congress, Bhakta Charan Das said it aims to revive party momentum ahead of future elections and send a clear message of unity and social justice. “Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with local delegations and leadership will reaffirm our stand on protecting the rights of Odisha’s people,” he added.
Alongside the public rally, Gandhi will hold two key closed-door meetings—one with tribal families affected by forced evictions and another with a farmers’ delegation that will voice concerns over procurement issues and agrarian distress. These discussions aim to bring the lived experiences of marginalized groups to the forefront of national attention.
Later in the day, he will meet with the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), PCC office bearers, and Congress MLAs in Odisha to assess the political landscape and strengthen internal coordination.
This will be Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to Odisha after the 2024 General Elections, and the Congress party hopes it will reinvigorate its organizational structure while reinforcing its pro-people stance across the state.
