Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate significant railway infrastructure projects and lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division in Odisha on January 6, 2025. The event, set to begin at 11:00 AM, will be conducted through video conferencing.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the New Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station. The event will be attended by the Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, at Jammu, along with other prominent dignitaries.
The Rayagada Railway Division project, with an estimated cost of ₹107 crores, is expected to bring transformative changes to the railway network in the region. The project includes the establishment of a divisional headquarters in Rayagada, the construction of a modern DRM office building, and the creation of a divisional control office to streamline railway operations. Residential facilities for staff and officers will be developed, along with improved connecting roads and parking areas. Sustainability measures such as rainwater harvesting systems will also be implemented as part of the project.
The new division is anticipated to significantly improve transportation links in South Odisha’s tribal belt, fostering economic growth and creating employment opportunities. It is also expected to enhance the efficiency of railway operations, benefitting passengers and local industries alike.
The foundation stone ceremony for the Rayagada Railway Division will be held in Rayagada, Odisha, with the Prime Minister participating virtually from Jammu. Dignitaries such as Odisha Governor Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu, Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, and Minister of State for Railways & Food Processing Industries Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu will be present at the event.
This initiative highlights the government’s focus on enhancing connectivity and promoting regional development, particularly in remote areas. The projects are expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening infrastructure and driving economic progress in the region.
