Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu graced and addressed the valedictory session of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention in Bhubaneswar, where she presented the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards to honor outstanding members of the Indian diaspora.
In her address, President Murmu highlighted the invaluable contributions of the Indian diaspora, describing them as the “best of our country.” She commended their efforts in carrying India’s knowledge, skills, values, and ethos to the global stage, making a remarkable impact in fields like technology, medicine, arts, and entrepreneurship.
Congratulating the awardees, the President noted that their success stories serve as an inspiration not only for Indians but for millions worldwide. She expressed her admiration for Christine Carla Kangaloo, President of Trinidad and Tobago, for her leadership and contributions, particularly in championing women’s causes and strengthening ties with the Indian diaspora.

Discussing India’s vision for the future, President Murmu outlined the mission of achieving a developed India, or “Viksit Bharat,” by 2047. Reflecting on India’s ancient philosophy of *Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam*—the world as one family—President Murmu called for creating a balanced ecosystem that fosters economic growth, social justice, and environmental stewardship.
