Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Paradip Port has achieved a significant milestone by handling 100 million tons (MT) of cargo in record time during the 2024-25 financial year. The achievement was reached on December 9, marking an impressive performance by the port.

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) Chairman, P.L. Haranadh, highlighted the accomplishment, stating that the port completed 100.13 MT cargo handling in just 253 days, nine days earlier than the previous fiscal year. “This is the fastest rate of handling 100 million tons by the port, and I congratulate all stakeholders, including exporters, importers, employees, officers, engineers, and stevedores, for their outstanding efforts,” Haranadh said.

Having handled 145 million tons in the last fiscal year, Paradip Port is aiming even higher this year, targeting 150 million tons. This marks the eighth consecutive year the port has crossed the 100 MT cargo milestone, cementing its position as one of the country’s most efficient and reliable ports.

Profitability and National Ranking

Paradip Port continues to shine as one of India’s top three ports in terms of profitability. According to Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Mr.Sarbananda Sonowal, the port recorded a net surplus of Rs 1,571.10 crore in the 2023-24 fiscal year, with an operating surplus of Rs1,512.93 crore.

Paradip Port’s consistent achievements and robust growth underscore its role as a crucial hub in India’s maritime and trade sectors, setting benchmarks in efficiency, profitability, and reliability.
