New Delhi – A sharp political debate erupted in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday over the recent Operation Sindoor, with TMC MP Sagarika Ghosh launching a scathing attack on the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking the floor during the discussion, Ghosh accused the Prime Minister of lacking compassion, stating, “There is neither blood nor sindoor flowing in his veins—only politics runs endlessly through them.” She claimed that had there been real empathy, incidents like the one in Pahalgam would never have occurred.
Raising serious questions over national security, Ghosh asked how terrorists managed to cross 200 kilometers and infiltrate Pahalgam undetected, suggesting a clear failure in border surveillance. She lamented that no one is willing to take accountability for the lapse.
Criticizing the Prime Minister’s frequent foreign visits, Ghosh pointed out that despite such a grave attack at the border and the tragic loss of lives, the Prime Minister didn’t visit the bereaved families. She also questioned the government’s stand on Pakistan, asking why India continues to play cricket with Pakistan in the Asia Cup if the Prime Minister keeps promising to teach Pakistan a lesson.
Ghosh further alleged that the government is more interested in publicity than in offering real support to victims. She said, “The Prime Minister poses in army uniform for posters, but neither he nor his government has extended any help to the villagers who suffered during the Pakistani attack. Visiting them seems far from their priority.”
Her comments added fuel to an already tense atmosphere in the House, highlighting the growing opposition scrutiny of the government’s handling of national security and public outreach.
