New Delhi: Women symbolize strength, compassion, and hope, reflecting the core values of Indian civilization that uphold respect and equality for women. This was emphasized by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during the inauguration of a daily workshop for women leaders, organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in New Delhi on Friday.
The workshop, titled “Women Leadership: Academic Excellence for a Developed India by 2047,” highlighted the vision of empowering women across all levels of education, inspired by the National Education Policy (NEP). Minister Pradhan underscored the importance of fostering leadership among women in higher education, making the event a platform to inspire and promote women’s participation in various fields.
Addressing the challenges faced by women, the minister noted their growing involvement in critical areas, including STEM education, despite numerous obstacles. He stressed the necessity of creating equal opportunities for women across all sectors, reflecting on the Modi government’s efforts over the past decade to shift from women’s development to women-led development.
“The evolving global order is driven by knowledge, and women play a pivotal role in shaping a developed India. Equality and empowerment of women are not just essential for societal growth but also for strengthening the nation,” said Pradhan.
He also advocated for creating a uniquely Indian model of women’s empowerment, enabling women to make independent decisions and lead confidently in all areas of life. Pradhan expressed hope that discussions during the workshop and the exchange of experiences among participants would pave the way for a comprehensive roadmap to achieve this vision.
Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education and Development of the North-Eastern Region, also attended the workshop.
This initiative aims to advance the narrative of women’s leadership, ensuring their decisive role in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.
