Bhubaneswar- Odisha’s Ashok Dandasena continues to shine on the international stage, securing his third gold medal at the World Police and Fire Games 2025, held in Birmingham, USA. The 31-year-old middle-distance runner triumphed in the Men’s 5000m race, adding another accolade to his already impressive performance at the global event.
A constable with the Odisha Police, Ashok has been training at the Reliance Foundation Odisha Athletics High-Performance Centre. His latest victory follows earlier gold medal wins in the Men’s 800m and 1500m races, making him one of India’s standout performers at the prestigious international meet.
In another proud moment for Odisha, athlete Susmita Tigga earned a silver medal in the Women’s 800m event, showcasing the state’s growing presence in the field of athletics.
The World Police and Fire Games, a biennial sporting event, brings together over 8,500 participants from more than 70 countries, all of whom are active or retired members of law enforcement and fire service. Ashok’s stellar performance not only reflects his personal dedication but also highlights the strength of India’s emerging athletic talent on the world stage.
