Bhubaneswar- In a significant step towards modernising governance, the Odisha Government has entered into a five-year collaboration with the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) Foundation through a non-financial Memorandum of Understanding. This partnership aims to embed data-driven and evidence-backed practices in policymaking, with a strong emphasis on capacity building across departments.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo hailed the initiative as the start of a transformative phase for Odisha, highlighting that data, outcomes, and evidence must be the guiding forces behind public service delivery. He noted that smarter, targeted, and more responsive solutions will be key to achieving the State’s vision for 2036 and 2047, and that CEGIS’s expertise aligns with this long-term roadmap.
Over the next half decade, CEGIS will extend technical and analytical assistance to optimise expenditure, enhance efficiency in policy decisions, and improve service delivery in crucial sectors. The agreement was signed by Vineet Bharadwaj, Executive Director of the Centre for Modernising Government Initiative, and Vijay Pinage, CEO of CEGIS Foundation, in the presence of senior officials including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and CEGIS Co-Founder Prof. Kartik Muralidharan.
