Bhubaneswar- In a decisive move to position Odisha as a key player in the aviation services sector, the State Cabinet has cleared a proposal to provide land at a 40% subsidy for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Bhubaneswar.
Chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Cabinet meeting approved the Commerce and Transport Department’s plan to offer special incentives over and above those available under the Industrial Policy Resolution 2022. The new facility, to be located at Biju Patnaik International Airport, will be the first major MRO centre in Eastern India and is expected to draw significant private sector investment.
Air Works India (Engineering) Pvt Ltd has been chosen as the anchor investor to build and operate the project. The Commerce and Transport Department will oversee its execution, while the High-Powered Committee on Aviation will ensure smooth rollout and regular monitoring.
This initiative is seen as a strategic step towards making Odisha a regional aviation hub. Alongside this, the Cabinet also gave the nod to six other proposals from various departments.
