Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced that ration cards of beneficiaries failing to complete the e-KYC process by January 31, 2025, will be canceled. The decision was confirmed by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra during press briefing.
In light of the ongoing efforts to update records, the government extended the deadline for the e-KYC process to January 31, 2025. Despite repeated reminders, around 49 lakh ration card beneficiaries are yet to complete the mandatory e-KYC process, the minister stated.
To make the process more accessible, beneficiaries have been urged to visit their nearest Electronic Public Service (EPS) outlets or ration distribution centers for e-KYC completion. Government officials have been directed to provide necessary support, including assistance to Odia beneficiaries residing in other states.
Once the e-KYC process is complete, new ration cards will be issued to all eligible beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System (PDS). The minister emphasized that this initiative aims to streamline the distribution system and ensure only eligible individuals benefit from the scheme.
The Odisha government’s focus remains on creating a transparent and effective distribution network while urging beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC on time to avoid disruptions.
