Bhubaneswar- In a significant step towards strengthening the justice delivery system, the Odisha Government has announced the establishment of 11 new Additional District Judge (ADJ) courts across the state. This includes three ADJ (Vigilance) courts in Puri, Nayagarh, and Kendrapara districts aimed at expediting vigilance-related cases, along with eight regular ADJ courts in various other regions.
The decision has been taken under the powers conferred by the Odisha Civil Courts Act, 1984, and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, following consultations with the Orissa High Court. The newly notified ADJ courts will be set up in Pipili (Puri), Ranapur (Nayagarh), Banapur (Khordha), Basudevpur (Bhadrak), Talcher (Angul), Rajgangpur (Sundargarh), Banki (Cuttack), and G. Udayagiri (Kandhamal).
The move is part of the state’s ongoing judicial reforms aimed at improving the efficiency and accessibility of the legal system, particularly in underserved and remote areas. By expanding the judicial network, the government aims to reduce case pendency and bring faster resolution to civil and criminal matters at the district level.
