Bhubaneswar: At the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held at Janata Maidan, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida emphasized Odisha’s commitment to becoming a global leader in tourism. Highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage, she said, “Odisha’s timeless art, history, classical dances, folk traditions, and unique cuisine are internationally celebrated. Our government is dedicated to unlocking Odisha’s full potential as a world-class tourist destination.”
Speaking during a session titled Unlocking Odisha’s Best Kept Secrets, Parida shared the government’s efforts to preserve and promote the state’s heritage and eco-tourism. She announced that visitors attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas would tour Odisha’s iconic sites to experience its vibrant culture and history firsthand.
Parida also highlighted the pivotal role of women in strengthening the state’s tourism sector, particularly in providing employment and enhancing the visitor experience. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering local talent and promoting Odisha’s art, eco-retreats, and heritage destinations.
The session featured notable figures such as India’s G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor, Lalit Suri Hospitality Group CMD Jyosna Suri, and Odisha Tourism Secretary Balwant Singh. Discussions centered on Odisha’s renowned temples, wildlife, forest resources, and globally recognized traditional cuisine.
The program, coordinated by Akshita M. Bhanjadeo, Director of Belgadia Palace, concluded with a vote of thanks. The event underscored Odisha’s determination to elevate its status on the global tourism map, blending its historical legacy with modern hospitality.
