Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed the state’s ambitious goal to join India’s top five economies with a 1.5 trillion Dollar GDP by 2047, coinciding with the nation’s centenary of independence. Speaking at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention, Majhi outlined a visionary roadmap, “Samriddha Odisha 2036,” as a precursor to the larger vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

Roadmap for Industrial and Economic Powerhouse

The Chief Minister underscored Odisha’s pivotal role in the Purvodaya Vision, aimed at transforming eastern India into an industrial and economic hub. With strategic initiatives in mining, metals, chemicals, tourism, and renewable energy, Odisha is striving for industrialization and inclusive growth. Majhi reiterated the state’s aspiration to become a global leader in these sectors, leveraging its resources and investor-friendly ecosystem.

Invitation to Global Investors and Diaspora

Calling on the Odia diaspora and global investors, Majhi invited participation in “Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025,” set to be held in Bhubaneswar on January 28-29. He emphasized collaborative efforts in realizing the state’s transformative vision and strengthening its foundation for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

Youth Day and Industrial Innovation

During the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas inauguration, the CM highlighted global achievers of Indian origin, including Sundar Pichai, Indira Nooyi, and Bibhu Mohapatra, as sources of inspiration. He applauded the state’s initiatives blending rich cultural heritage with modern innovation, fostering sustainable development and ease of doing business.

Robust Policies for Investor Confidence

State officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, emphasized Odisha’s proactive industrial policies. These include the “Go Swift” single-window system for seamless approvals, a strong talent pool, and infrastructure geared toward global standards. Swain assured all investors of continued support, encouraging both large corporations and emerging entrepreneurs to contribute to Odisha’s growth journey.

Unlocking Opportunities in Odisha

A promotional video, ”Transforming Odisha – Opportunities Unlocked,” showcased the state’s potential and ongoing initiatives. Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma reiterated Odisha’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, ensuring stability and growth for investors across sectors.
