On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Sanskar International School celebrated Matru-Pitru Day with great dignity and enthusiasm. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Swami Turyanand Saraswati from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, who is the President of Chinmaya Mission and Shri Lalita Panchayatana Temple. Other notable attendees included the school’s founder Mrs. Sabitri Devi Sawadia, Chairman Mr. Suman Sawadia, Vice-Chairman Mrs. Babita Sawadia, Director Mr. Ajit Patnaik, Principal Mr. Karan Sahu, Director Mr. Siddharth Sawadia, Mrs. Megha Sawadia, Academic Coordinator Mrs. Seema Sahu, Coordinator Mrs. Mamta Sinha and Ms. Rita Nayak, along with faculty, parents, and students.
The day began with Swami Turyanand addressing the students of Grade 9 in the morning. He delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the impact of positive thinking and the role of individual actions in shaping a nation’s destiny. Drawing examples from great personalities, he encouraged students to focus on optimism while discarding negativity.
In the evening, Swami Turyanand guided all students to perform a traditional ceremony of worship dedicated to their parents. This event drew a large number of parents from nearby states, who were deeply moved by the ritual. They expressed their appreciation for the way Sanatan Dharma upholds the significance of parents as divine figures, equating their role to that of gods. Many noted that such an elaborate and meaningful event is rare in the region, making this the second time Sanskar International School has hosted it since its inception two years ago.
During the ceremony, students washed their parents’ feet, dried them with towels, and offered flowers and rice, followed by a heartfelt aarti. This act of devotion fostered a sense of respect and service in the students. Parents praised the school’s management, teachers, and students for organizing such a unique and well-managed event. The program highlighted the school’s dedication to instilling moral values and cultural traditions alongside academic learning.
School Cairman Mr. Suman Sawadia emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between modernity and tradition, calling it a challenging yet essential endeavor. Principal Mr. Karan Sahu highlighted the event’s primary objective: to deepen students’ bonds with their parents and families and instill gratitude and dedication towards them.
On the following day, Swami Turyanand addressed students from Grades 10, 11, and 12 in an engaging and interactive session. Through games and activities, he taught profound life lessons. In one activity, he used materials like sponges, clay, pebbles, and sugar to demonstrate different personality types and explained the importance of selflessness and national dedication for true progress. Another activity, “Tic-Tac-Toe,” illustrated the importance of strategic thinking and active intellect in overcoming life’s challenges.
Swami Turyanand also encouraged students to study inspirational verses from the Bhagavad Gita and learn values from characters in ancient Indian mythology. He emphasized the necessity of harmony between the body, mind, and intellect for fostering positive thoughts. Students participated enthusiastically, asked questions, and received valuable insights from Swami Turyanand.
The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on students, parents, and educators alike.
