Malkangiri: In a significant step toward the development of Malkangiri district, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a series of ambitious projects, including the establishment of a cement plant with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore. The announcement came during a high-level review meeting held at the DRDA Conference Hall in Malkangiri on Saturday.
The Chief Minister emphasized the development of the Swabhiman Anchal region in determining the location of the proposed projects. These initiatives will be closely monitored under the direct supervision of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) for southern Odisha and the district collector to ensure timely implementation.
The proposed cement plant, with an estimated investment of Rs 4,000 crore, is expected to generate employment for 2,000 local youths, providing a significant boost to the district’s economy. This move aims to address unemployment in the region and drive industrial growth in the Maoist-affected district.
In addition to the cement plant, the Chief Minister unveiled plans for a six-lane special corridor that will connect southern Odisha to the northern region of the state. The corridor will stretch from Motu in Malkangiri to Tiring in Mayurbhanj, fostering better connectivity and facilitating trade and transportation.
Further development initiatives include the expedited process of land acquisition for proposed railway projects in the district, aimed at enhancing Malkangiri’s connectivity and infrastructure.
The review meeting was attended by key officials and stakeholders, including Minister Nityananda Gond, MP Balabhadra Majhi, RDC (Southern), the district collector, and other senior officials.
