Bhubaneswar: The proposed queue system at the Jagannath Temple in Puri will be implemented starting January 20, as confirmed by Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan. He mentioned that arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth darshan experience for devotees through this system. Initially planned for introduction on New Year, the implementation was delayed due to the large influx of pilgrims during that period.
Regarding the Ratna Bhandar repair work, the Minister stated that it is expected to be completed by March. Following the repairs, an inventory of the deities’ ornaments will be conducted. Although the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had set a three-month deadline, efforts are underway to finish the repairs ahead of schedule.
Currently, the repair work has been paused to facilitate uninterrupted Makar Sankranti rituals and will resume on January 17. Once the repairs are complete, the process of counting and transferring the precious gems and ornaments back to the Ratna Bhandar from temporary strongrooms will begin.
