Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards economic growth and social welfare, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has introduced 16 groundbreaking initiatives as part of the State Budget for the financial year 2025-26. Presenting the budget in the Assembly, Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, underscored the government’s focus on infrastructure development, regional upliftment, and inclusive progress.
Antyodaya Gruha Yojana
A major housing scheme, Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, has been allocated Rs 7,550 crore to provide concrete houses to below-poverty-line families, disaster victims, and those displaced by government projects. The initiative aims to construct 75,000 houses across the state.
Subhadra Surakhya
The government has earmarked Rs 153 crore for Subhadra Surakhya, a scheme designed to enhance women’s safety and security in Odisha.
Shri Jagannath Darshan Yojana
With an allocation of Rs 30 crore, this initiative will allow underprivileged devotees to visit the Puri Jagannath Temple and receive Mahaprasad free of cost.
Northern Odisha Development Council
To address regional disparities, the Northern Odisha Development Council will be established with a budget of Rs 200 crore, aiming to boost investments and governance in the region.
Odisha Pusti Mission
To improve nutrition among women, adolescent girls, and children, the Odisha Pusti Mission will be launched with an initial fund of Rs 100 crore, complementing the Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pusti Yojana.
Bakulabana Unnayan
The government has proposed Rs 50 crore to develop Bakulaban at Satyabadi in Puri as a heritage site and a center for learning.
Ama Similipal
A new initiative, Ama Similipal, has been introduced with a budget of Rs 50 crore for conservation and development of the Similipal Tiger Reserve, which is under threat from deforestation and poaching.
Model Mandi
A total of Rs 50 crore has been allocated to establish 100 Model Mandis across the state, equipped with essential facilities like rest sheds, godowns, and modern grading tools.
Saheed Laxman Nayak Adarsh Vidyalaya
With an outlay of Rs 100 crore, the state government aims to develop residential schools into state-of-the-art educational institutions.
Odia Diaspora: O-SAMPARK
To maintain engagement with Odia communities abroad, the government will introduce O-SAMPARK with an initial budget of Rs 10 crore.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana
Aimed at assisting economically weaker families in marrying off their daughters, this scheme will be supported by a Rs 12 crore allocation.
Southern Odisha Development Council
With an initial fund of Rs 200 crore, the council will focus on the development of South Odisha districts.
Swachha Odisha
The government has set aside Rs 261 crore for the Swachha Odisha initiative to enhance solid, liquid, and wastewater management in urban areas.
Aame Padhiba Aama Bhasare
Aligning with the New Education Policy, the Aame Padhiba Aama Bhasare scheme will promote early childhood education in the mother tongue.
Atal Bus Stand
The Mukhyamantri Bus Seva Yojana has received Rs 1,085 crore, while the Atal Bus Stand initiative will use Rs 1,266 crore to develop 133 bus terminals statewide.
Samruddha Sahara
Aimed at transforming urban areas into centers of sustainable growth, the Samruddha Sahara initiative has been allocated Rs 408 crore.
With these 16 initiatives, the Odisha government seeks to drive economic development, strengthen social welfare, and enhance the overall quality of life for its citizens. This budget marks a new milestone in the state’s commitment to progress and prosperity.
