Bhubaneswar: Brijendra Pratap Singh has officially assumed the role of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) at its corporate headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
Mr Pratap, who has succeeded NALCO’s former CMD Sridhar Patra, comes with over 35 years of experience in the mining and steel industries, Singh brings extensive expertise and a proven track record. Prior to joining NALCO, he served as Director-in-Charge of the Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants and was a board member of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). His leadership at SAIL was pivotal in driving modernization initiatives and aligning the organization with the National Steel Policy.
An alumnus of IIT Dhanbad, Singh graduated in Mining Machinery Engineering in 1989 and holds an MBA in Marketing. His career began at Bhilai Steel Plant’s Iron Ore Mine, and he has held key positions at SAIL’s integrated steel plants, including Bhilai (BSP), Bokaro (BSL), Durgapur (DSP), and IISCO (ISP). His expertise spans operations in mining, Blast Furnaces, Sinter Plants, maintenance, and plant management.
Singh’s appointment is expected to energize NALCO’s expansion plans and new projects. His strategic vision and operational acumen are anticipated to drive the company’s growth and strengthen its position in the aluminum sector.
