Bhubaneswar- Nabarangpur is set to witness a significant boost in healthcare access as the Odisha government resumes its ambitious health outreach initiative, the Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva, in the district from today July 7. The special four-day health camp is a long-awaited return, coming back after nearly a year and a half, with the goal of extending advanced medical care to remote areas.
This health mission will act as a strong support system to the district headquarters hospital by delivering top-tier medical services normally available only in established medical colleges. Specialist doctors from premier institutions like SCB Medical College will attend to patients with complicated health conditions, offering diagnosis, consultations, and surgeries—all free of cost.
On the first day, five senior resident doctors will begin examining patients and preparing them for advanced surgeries. High-end diagnostic procedures such as echocardiography and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy will also be carried out. The attending doctors include Dr. Biswajit Sahoo (Urology), Dr. Sumeet Kumar Sahu (Cardiology), Dr. Lipika Panigrahi (Nephrology), Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Patra (Gastroenterology), and Dr. Rakesh Kumar Mohanty (Neurology).
As the camp progresses into the second day, six more senior doctors will take over, offering consultations in super-specialties and performing surgeries. These include Dr. Sabyasachi Panda (Urology), Dr. Jasobanta Behera (Cardiology), Dr. Aruna Acharya (Nephrology), Dr. Samir Kumar Hota (Gastroenterology), Dr. Nihar Ranjan Biswal (Neurology), and Dr. Debarchana Jena (Endocrinology).
The state’s commitment to seamless healthcare delivery is evident in the arrangements made by the district administration. From food and lodging for medical teams to setting up the camp infrastructure, every detail has been meticulously planned to ensure smooth execution.
With 938 patients expected to be examined over the course of the camp, this initiative promises to bring advanced medical science closer to communities that have long remained underserved. Following Nabarangpur, similar camps will be extended to Nuapada and Malkangiri districts, aiming to ensure that even the remotest populations have access to super-specialized health services.
