Bhubaneswar- In a move aimed at enhancing accountability and ensuring timely attendance, the Odisha Government has ordered the mandatory installation of biometric attendance systems in all Revenue offices across the state. This decision is part of a broader push to improve workplace discipline and administrative efficiency.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department, through a fresh directive, has instructed all district collectors to expedite the process and oversee the implementation of biometric systems in every Revenue office under their jurisdiction. The goal is to create a uniform attendance protocol that applies equally to all government employees, from entry-level staff to senior officials.
This action comes shortly after Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari conducted an unannounced inspection at the Inspector General of Registration’s office in Cuttack on July 21. The visit revealed a concerning pattern of late arrivals among staff members, prompting the need for tighter attendance oversight.
With the new system in place, the government hopes to set a higher standard for punctuality and productivity, reinforcing a culture of discipline across the state’s administrative framework.
