Bhubaneswar- Hindalco Industries Ltd, part of the Aditya Birla Group, is set to invest Rs 200 crore in Odisha by establishing apparel manufacturing units in the Keonjhar and Sambalpur districts. The announcement was made during the inaugural edition of Odisha TEX 2025, eastern India’s largest textile investment summit, held at the state secretariat in Bhubaneswar in collaboration with FICCI.

Two Memorandums of Understanding were signed between Hindalco and the Odisha government in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Each unit will involve an investment of Rs 100 crore and is expected to generate 2,400 direct employment opportunities, marking a significant boost to the state’s textile and apparel sector.

The event saw the signing of 33 MoUs with proposed investments totaling Rs 7,800 crore, potentially creating around 53,300 jobs in the sector. The Chief Minister also announced an enhancement in employment cost subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile & Apparel Policy 2022. Male workers will now receive Rs 6,000 per month, up from Rs 5,000, while female workers will be eligible for Rs 7,000, up from Rs 6,000.

Emphasizing fast-track execution and full government support, the Chief Minister declared the formation of a dedicated task force under the Industries Department. He highlighted Odisha’s plan to create over one lakh textile and apparel jobs by 2030 and expand new textile clusters in Balangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack.

Calling Odisha TEX 2025 a landmark moment, he affirmed the state’s readiness to lead eastern India’s textile transformation through strong infrastructure, progressive policies, and a skilled workforce. He also announced that the investors’ summit will now be held annually.

The summit was attended by key state officials including Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Charan Swain, Handlooms and Textiles Minister Pradeep Bal Samant, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, and Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma.
