Sambalpur (Odisha)-A minor derailment incident involving the Shalimar–Sambalpur Mahima Gosain Express train occurred near Sambalpur City Station on Thursday morning, sparking brief concern among passengers but resulting in no casualties.
The mishap happened around 9:22 AM, just four minutes after the train (20831) left Sambalpur City station. A general coach located just ahead of the guard van experienced a rear trolley derailment while the train was moving at a slow pace on the Sambalpur City–Sambalpur route.
Thankfully, the slow speed prevented any injuries or significant damage. East Coast Railway officials confirmed that all passengers were safe. The unaffected coaches continued the journey and reached Sambalpur station without any further issues.
Senior railway authorities, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), quickly arrived at the site to supervise restoration efforts and initiate an inquiry into the cause of the derailment.
