Cuttack: A crocodile, suspected to be a gharial, was accidentally caught in a fishing net while local fishermen were fishing near the Mahanadi River at Tentalipali village. The reptile got entangled as the fishermen went about their daily catch.
Realizing the presence of the trapped crocodile, the villagers immediately informed the Forest Department. Responding swiftly, forest officials reached the spot and rescued the animal without harm, much to the relief of the locals.
This incident underscores the frequent encounters between humans and wildlife in river-adjacent regions. Authorities have once again urged people to stay alert during fishing and to inform wildlife officials promptly if they come across such situations in the future.
