New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic and culturally rich welcome upon his arrival in Rio de Janeiro, marking the beginning of his four-day visit to Brazil. The Indian community, brimming with pride and emotion, greeted him with vibrant traditional dances, folk songs, and heartfelt chants celebrating India’s spirit and progress.
The welcome was not just a ceremonial gesture but a powerful display of connection between Indians abroad and their homeland. Among the highlights was a striking dance based on Operation Sindoor, accompanied by the patriotic song “Ye Desh Nahi Mitne Dunga”, which filled the atmosphere with a sense of national pride. Adding to this celebration of cultures, a Brazilian music group performed soulful devotional songs, underlining the universal appeal of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
Taking to social media, the Prime Minister shared glimpses of the vibrant reception, expressing his joy at witnessing the Indian community’s continued bond with their roots. He remarked on how passionately the diaspora in Brazil remains engaged with India’s culture and development journey.
PM Modi is in Brazil to participate in the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit, scheduled from July 6 to 7, where global leaders will come together to deliberate on key issues such as peace and security, climate action, global health, artificial intelligence, and multilateral cooperation. Alongside the summit, the Prime Minister is also expected to hold several important bilateral meetings with global counterparts.
As part of his State Visit, the Prime Minister will head to Brasilia for official talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The discussions will focus on enhancing the Strategic Partnership between India and Brazil across vital sectors including trade, defence, energy, space, agriculture, healthcare, technology, and cultural exchanges.
Members of the Indian diaspora in Brazil expressed overwhelming excitement at welcoming their Prime Minister in person. Many shared their emotional connection to the moment. Vijay Solanki, originally from Gujarat, expressed how honored he felt to be part of the reception. Another attendee, Pooja, also from Gujarat and residing in Brazil for three years, shared her excitement about seeing the Prime Minister.
PM Modi arrived in Brazil after completing his engagements in Argentina, where he held a bilateral meeting with President Javier Milei. The visit to Brazil is the fourth leg of his five-nation, eight-day tour, which began in Ghana and included Trinidad and Tobago and Argentina. After Brazil, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Namibia on July 9, where he will address the Namibian Parliament, further strengthening India’s global outreach and strategic ties.
