Kandhamal/Bhubaneswar- In a decisive move against Left-Wing Extremism, Kandhamal police successfully apprehended two senior CPI Maoist members during a carefully coordinated operation near Satlada village under the jurisdiction of Baliguda Police Station. The arrested individuals, identified as Ajay and Manju, were believed to be key operatives within the Maoist Area Committee structure.
Based on accurate intelligence inputs, the police launched a swift and strategic action that led to the arrest of the duo, who had long been under surveillance for their involvement in planning violent insurgent activities in the region. The capture marks a significant step forward in the state’s ongoing efforts to dismantle Maoist presence, especially in the KKBN (Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh) division, which has remained a Maoist hotspot.
During the operation, security forces recovered a cache of weapons, communication devices, and other critical materials that point to the pair’s active role in coordinating extremist activities. Officials have hailed the arrests as a substantial breakthrough in curbing the operational reach of the outlawed group.
As part of the larger strategy to restore peace in Maoist-affected areas, the police have once again urged remaining militants to lay down arms and join the mainstream. The recent success underscores the state’s resolve to ensure safety, stability, and development in the affected tribal belts of Odisha.
