Bhubaneswar- Odisha is poised to take center stage in India’s energy transition by hosting the prestigious Energy Ministers’ Conclave later this year, in collaboration with the Tony Blair Institute and IIT Kanpur. The event is expected to bring together Energy Ministers and top energy experts from across the country and abroad to shape the future of India’s energy landscape.
Chairing a high-level preparatory meeting in Bhubaneswar, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, who also oversees the state’s energy portfolio, emphasized the importance of this event in contributing to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat by 2047.” He stated that Odisha is committed to leading policy innovation and building a robust framework to support a sustainable and climate-resilient energy future.
Highlighting the state’s shift towards renewable energy, Singh Deo noted that Odisha is actively moving away from conventional power sources and focusing on solar, pumped storage projects (PSP), and other green energy alternatives. The Tony Blair Institute will play a strategic advisory role in this transition.
He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by adopting clean energy solutions and reducing its carbon footprint. “This conclave will be a platform for collaboration, innovation, and exchange of best practices,” he said.
The government had earlier signed an MoU in New Delhi to officially kick off preparations for the event. The conclave will also spotlight Odisha’s own breakthroughs in the renewable sector and is expected to attract prominent figures from both Indian and international energy ecosystems.
This landmark event is set to position Odisha as a frontrunner in India’s clean energy mission and a thought leader in crafting future-ready energy policies.
