Bhubaneswar- Odisha’s pride and para badminton star Dillaswar Rao added another feather to his cap by securing a bronze medal at the prestigious Thailand Para Badminton International 2025, held in Bangkok. Teaming up with Dinesh Rajaiah, the duo impressed in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4 category, bringing home one of India’s 14 bronze medals from the tournament.
Dillaswar and Dinesh displayed excellent coordination and dominance in the quarterfinals, sweeping aside the Nepal-Bhutan pair of Adhikari Prakash and Cheyang Kuenchap in straight sets, 21-8, 21-12. However, their campaign for gold ended in the semifinal, where they faced a formidable Indian pair — Naveen Sivakumar and Jagdish Dilli. The match proved to be one-sided as Dillaswar and Dinesh were outplayed, losing 3-21, 12-21, thus settling for the bronze.
India’s overall performance in the international meet was commendable, concluding the event with a total tally of 24 medals, including 2 golds, 8 silvers, and 14 bronzes, further showcasing the rising strength of Indian para shuttlers on the global stage.
Among the standout performers, Palak Kohli paired with Thailand’s Chanaida to clinch gold in the Women’s Doubles SL3-SU5 category, while Nithya Sre bagged another gold in the Women’s Singles SH6 category.
Dillaswar Rao’s consistent achievements continue to inspire a generation of para athletes in Odisha and across the country. His latest feat not only adds to his personal accolades but also cements Odisha’s growing reputation in India’s para sports arena.
