Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central government on Monday, January 13, to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) in the state.

The agreement will be signed at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi at 2 PM, involving the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Odisha government. The event will be attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.

The MoU formalizes the integration of the centrally-sponsored PM-JAY with Odisha’s state-funded Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY), previously known as the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). The merged scheme will issue a single health card to beneficiaries, streamlining access to healthcare services.

Under GJAY, families are entitled to annual cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, with an additional Rs 5 lakh exclusively for women beneficiaries. Similarly, PM-JAY provides health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family annually. Women beneficiaries under the integrated scheme will retain their additional coverage of Rs5 lakh, ensuring enhanced healthcare access.
