Cuttack: In a significant move aimed at benefiting aspirants from the undivided Koraput region, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced the establishment of a new examination zone in Jeypore, Koraput district.

The addition of the Jeypore examination center is expected to provide convenience for candidates residing in and around the region, reducing the need for long-distance travel to existing centers. This decision aligns with OPSC’s commitment to making competitive examinations more accessible across the state.

According to an official notification from OPSC, the Jeypore center will be utilized for conducting various competitive examinations. Until now, the commission had been operating five examination zones located in Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Sambalpur. With Jeypore now added to the list, the commission aims to streamline examination processes for a larger number of candidates.

The establishment of the Jeypore examination zone comes in response to a recent proposal by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who emphasized the need for enhanced accessibility in recruitment processes. During a meeting with the chairpersons of various recruitment commissions at Lok Seva Bhawan on January 1, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of increasing government manpower to improve public service delivery.

In line with these efforts, the Chief Minister has directed all state departments to submit recruitment proposals to the respective commissions by March 31, 2025. This directive aims to expedite the hiring process across various sectors and ensure that qualified individuals can contribute to the state’s development.

The new examination zone in Jeypore is expected to significantly benefit aspirants from the southern regions of Odisha, marking another step toward equitable opportunities in public sector employment.
