Sanskar International School Hosts the Second Edition of Two-Day Model United Nations

Bargarh: The second edition of the two-day Model United Nations (MUN) conference was successfully organized at Sanskar International School of Bargarh, Odisha. The event witnessed the participation of 120 students from Sanskar International School, IDM Public School (Balangir), and Bells Public School (Jharsuguda).

The inaugural ceremony, held in the Swami Vivekananda Hall, began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Students attended in traditional attire representing various nations, which received widespread appreciation. Distinguished guests including Mr. Raj Khote, Ms. Deepti K Kalyan, Ms. Prachi Sawant, and Mr. Adarsh Pattnayak from Mumbai’s Skill Spare Company graced the occasion.

Mr. Suman Sawadia, Chairman of Sanskar International School, emphasized the importance of focused efforts towards achieving goals, remarking, “Taking the first step towards a goal is halfway there, but we must stay focused to achieve the ultimate objective.”

Director Mr. Ajit Pattnayak appreciated the students’ traditional attire and their dedication to thorough research and hard work. He remarked, “Hard work paves the way for success, and if we wish to achieve it, we must choose the path of perseverance.”

The principal of the school, Mr. Karan Sahu, highlighted the purpose of hosting MUN as a platform to familiarize students with pressing national and global issues, encouraging them to present solutions and enhance their debate and analytical skills.

The event’s director, Mr. Siddharth Sawadia, congratulated all participants, describing the MUN as an excellent opportunity for students to display their latent talents and address global issues collaboratively.

The inaugural ceremony was conducted by teachers Neha Sharma and Anwesha Biswal.

The even featured was four committees: UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme), which represented by 31 student delegates from 31 countries. Second was UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) represented by 32 student delegates from 32 countries. UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council) represented by 30 student delegates from 30 countries.UNGA (United Nations General Assembly)  which presented by 30 student delegates from 30 countries.

Students actively participated in debates and discussions on social issues. Notable participants included Arush Agrawal and Shreya Arpita Toppo (UNEP); Deepansi Modi, K. Binay Dora, and Samman Priyadarshi Seth (UNDP); Jit Agrawal, Ashima Agrawal, Harsh Modi, Mihika Agrawal, Riya Jain, and Smruti Chowdhury (UNHRC); and Samruddhi Lath, Prince Agrawal, and Pari Agrawal (UNGA), who were recognized and encouraged for their contributions.

On the second day, during the closing ceremony, the “Best Delegates” from each committee were awarded to Akshay Mittal (UNEP), Toyash Lokchandani (UNDP), Harshil Kumar Meher (UNGA), Mohan Agrawal (UNHRC)

The closing ceremony was attended by notable guests, including the school’s academic coordinator, Mrs. Seema Sahu; coordinators Mrs. Mamata Sinha and Miss Rita Nayak; and other faculty members. Ms. Anwesha Biswal delivered the vote of thanks, marking the successful conclusion of the event.
